“How can Governors give Wellbeing Support to staff under the current work rationale”

Governors from across the school sectors joined Dr Poppy Gibson ( Senior Lecturer Education ARU Chelmsford) for a discussion on Governor Support For the Wellbeing of School Staff.

How does well being affect the school community?

Could there be a link between pupil attainment and how a teacher feels?

Often lack of well being is displayed in our behaviour patterns because we feel undervalued, under-fulfilled and our emotional health is struggling.

So what is WELLBEING?

"state of being comfortable, healthy and happy"

"The difference between thriving and surviving"

Just 2 of the definitions put forward last night. There is no definitive answer as we are all different.Screenshot (80)

How can we as Governors in our strategic roles enhance a positive wellbeing environment? In schools we rightly celebrate pupil achievement but how about the school community as a whole. Do we acknowledge and celebrate staff success in their lives to instil the feel good factor towards their self care.

What is SELF CARE?

As Governors too realise we are all vulnerable and it is that very vulnerability that makes everyone unique we can encourage each to have resilience of character to accept we are DIFFERENT and as such each brings a special quality to the team. By doing simple things we can ensure our batteries are never at a low level.
